LIP TREATMENTS

The ombré lip blush treatment I offer is great for a number of different clients... those looking to give the illusion of bigger lips, those looking to have some colour in their lips all day every day, and those who are looking to put back the colour that has faded due to filler stretching the lip skin. Lip tattooing is also great for clients with lots of lines in their lips as the treatments help to naturally encourage collagen production, filling out the lips!
How semi-permanent / permanent is it?
This is still a tattoo where cosmetic pigment is being placed into your skin. Semi-permanent means it will fade over time, and that if you want to keep your lips looking vibrant, top up appointments will be needed to maintain this look. Semi-permanent DOES NOT mean it will 100% fade away. You may always be left with remnants of pigment under your skin even 10 years from now. Cosmetic tattooing is generally softer and less solid than a body tattoo as we are trying to keep it lighter and more natural, and this is why specially formulated products that can break down over time are used, as over the years this ages better and allows for changes. This, combined with the fact that faces are generally oilier than other parts of the body, and that faces are usually more exposed to UV rays, environmental pollutants, products such as make up, cleansers & exfoliants, is why top ups are required over the years. Everyone's bodies will process the ink differently, as well as your lifestyle choices affecting the longevity of the tattoo. This is still a tattoo, so before anyone tells you any differently, please bare in mind that whether or not you refresh your lip blush, you may still be left with a shadow or faded lip line if you don't wish to continue with annual top ups.

Ombré lip blush - what is it and how is it done?
Picture
Ombré lip blush is a cosmetic tattoo that can give a more symmetrical shape, restore any lost colour from the lips, neutralise any unwanted tones (more common in melanin rich skin types) and help give the illusion of larger lips if desired.

The treatment is done with a machine that operates by moving a needle up and down really quickly to gently puncture the skin and deposit ink.The level of pain you feel will be dictated by your own pain threshold however numbing gels will be used once the skin is open to keep you more comfortable.

Because your face is naturally oilier compared to the rest of your body, and coupled with this being a small delicate tattoo to heal, two sessions spaced 6-10 weeks apart are needed for best healed results. Some clients, especially those who; overuse lip exfoliators, have lip fillers after having their lips tattooed, bite their lips and peel off skin, use sunbeds, sunbathe, don’t use sun protection, smoke, take regular medications/antibiotics, use anti aging products or harsh cleansers may need more than 1 touch up session to achieve their desired results. They may also need more regular top ups to keep their lips vibrant.

This is great for clients who don't have a naturally defined lip line, those who have had fillers (stretched the lip skin making it paler) and those who just want some overall colour! This isn't the sole solution for clients that have thin/small lips who are looking for their lips to be larger. For those clients, it's best for them to have some lip filler first and then have the lip blush treatment if they still feel it's necessary.

▪ If you're feeling particularly nervous, bring music with you that you find relaxing.
▪ If wearing make up to your appointment, bring make up with you to reapply after your treatment as a lot of it will be wiped off.
▪ Your lips may be swollen and bruised after your session so please bare this in mind if you have plans the same day.
▪ Ask as many questions as you want - no question is a silly question!
Top Ups
Annual top ups are usually between 1 - 3 years however clients who have or partake in any of the following may expel pigment faster or fade their lips faster through these activities, so may need more frequent top ups than this. Some reasons for premature fading are: overusing a lip exfoliators, having lip fillers after having your lips tattooed, biting your lips and peeling the skin, using sunbeds, sunbathing and not using sun protection, smoking, having a fast metabolism, having an iron deficiency, taking regular medications that affects the skin, using anti aging products and harsh cleansers. Your skin is a living, breathing organ and you will react differently to everyone else.
